We don't know much about the history of The Duke, but we do know this old pub has been much loved by locals over many years. Very much part of the Deptford music scene in the 1970's and 80's it hosted performances by numerous local bands including such notable acts as Squeeze and Dire Straits. |

Now, after complete modernisation, The Duke opened in October 2008. Restored beyond its former glory, with a roof terrace, dining room and a brand new kitchen it is a truly splendid addition to the area. Modern and stylish, displaying paintings by local artists, but a proper pub with real beer, perfect wines and great food. An oasis in the middle of high and rising West Greenwich. The bar is open from midday to midnight Monday to Thursday, midday to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and midday to 11pm on Sundays. The Menu is available from 12 - 3.30pm and 6.30 - 10pm on weekdays. On Saturdays we serve all day from midday to 10pm and on Sundays from 12.30 to 5pm. Our fruit and vegetables come direct from Borough Market, our meat is from Oxfordshire and fish from Billingsgate. We get cured meats and sausages from small importers and producers in Borough and we hand peel, cut and twice-fry the potatoes that make our amazing chips. Everything is freshly delivered and freshly made and exceedingly good value for money. Coffee and tea served all day every day from midday and free high speed Wi-Fi broadband internet access is available at all times. Find us on the corner of Creek Road and Gonson Street between the Laban Dance Centre and MacMillan student village. A 5 minute walk from Deptford and Greenwich stations and Cutty Sark DLR. |
