London Marathon 25th April 2010
The race passes right by our front door and we serve breakfast and refreshment from 9am followed by lunch
from 12.30. With a brass band on the balcony and
full breakfast on the terrace it is a hugely
enjoyable day. The pub is on the 7 mile
marker and most runners pass by between 9.30 and midday so
book and arrive early for the best view.

Duke Sponsors Local Athlete
For the 2010 marathon The Duke is teaming up with the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which exists to
find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications, and
is the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes
research.

Pictured above is veteran local athlete and pub
aficionado William Kingwill who is raising funds this year for JDRF
and running in his fourth marathon but for the first time under The Duke's
colours. We are proud to be able to help and promise him a few
cheers and a toast to his declining well-being as he sprints past.

the restaurant, the bar or the whole building. Our staff are very
experienced event caterers and in the past three years we have
catered for a number of events here at the pub and in peoples homes
and gardens. We will guide you through the planning process to
create the perfect party for your occasion anywhere you choose.
We don't charge a room hire fee and our prices per head are very
competitive. As you would expect our food and drink are of the very
highest quality and you can be certain that, whatever you choose and
with no hidden extras, you will be getting the very best value for
